Well done to all Greenpeace supporters especially the good man who stood strong at the World Economic Forum and faced the head man of HSBC over their funding of rainforest destroying palm oil extraction. It was highlighted by Greenpeace that some of the companies HSBC were supporting financially had interests in palm oil extraction from really fertile good sound rainforests where orang-utans play and tribal people live in harmony with the nature of the forest. The sheer destruction of the prestine forest was horrifying and I thought completely outdated with the good symbol of the Rainforest Alliance and the like. How can this go on in this day and age and why are we so reliant on this one simple ingredient palm oil. Perhaps sustainably sourced goods are still to be found but this needs to be across the board like it has become with bananas. If we can achieve such plants as tea, coffee and bananas being sustainably sourced why not palm oil???

I wonder how far this action of Greenpeace to stand strong against such destruction will go when HSBC have promised to back off and ensure their "power for good" as the head man said is used wisely. Perhaps they mean by investing in the communities where palm oil extraction is found to be small local farmers who live and work in harmony with the environment as the other alliances of the Rainforest have done. Not only do these alliances help save the rainforest but also help to create jobs for local people who know the forest well and are able to support themselves and their communities instead of resettlement of tribes, complete devastation of wide tracks of land and increased risk of forest fires, let alone the threat to rare endangered species of animal and plant. You think it's only in the Rainforest that you see all this. If you check out mi blog the "THIRD BATTLE FOR NEWBURY" you would hear stories about the destruction of ancient forests in even this good ole England. This land of ours has dark secrets cue Jerusalem and those satanic mills!!

Back to the point (ish)  I have been watching the Jungle Book lots lately as my daughter is as big a fan of the film as I was young and the sight of forest fires to animals is frightening. The elephants save the day in the new film and is makes you feel really small when you see the harmony of the animal world and how much humans are at each other's throats. Must be vampires!! To see a Greenpeace supporter speak so soundly and strongly at that meeting and face them on turf that makes sense where all people can hear the truth is wonderful. We need a transparent world which is all well and good until you are asked to be transparent!! Could you be??? I am one who knows twenty questions from this man and that woman and it's not easy to justify everything you thought was human nature when we are just so different to each other. WE ARE HUMAN!

So again well done Greenpeace and let's hope we score a strike on this funding from all banks being stopped in their tracks before the rainforest is gone forevermore. Why I ask you in this day and age has it gone on this long. Sting helped the tribal people of the Amazon rainforest speak out long ago and where do we see people really listening if this goes on to this day! Please help support Greenpeace reach out their efforts while they are on top and make other banks follow suit. An advert is to be placed in a top newspaper and they need backing to help make this happen. If you can donate please help Greenpeace www.greenpeace.org.uk
